Catrine Rush-Barbee

Hello, my name is Catrina Rush-Barbee, graduated from Martin University, on May 20, 2017, with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, where I earned a 4.0 GPA and was Queen Valedictorian of my graduating class.

I completed my Master’s degree in Community Psychology in 2018, graduating sum cum laude, gaining a full-time position as a mental health therapist and addictions counselor. I currently hold a full-time position as a therapist Monday-Thursday. I joined the MCG family in February 2021, on Fridays as a part-time mental health therapist, I plan to transition into a full-time contracting position with MCG by August of 2022.

My passion lies with adolescent issues such as self-awareness and acceptance, and Greif counseling, I enjoy all phases of counseling and therapy within my realm of expertise. I believe” that adolescents are the future of tomorrow.” I also believe that no matter the age, when someone truly cares about your positive outcome, rather than what brought one to counseling or to a particular point in life, a genuine, non-judgmental focus is most important. I believe that working closely with the family to build better relationships while mending past hurts/traumas and broken relationships is vital. One of my life's mantras is, “Your past does not define your future.”

My service areas are Behavioral Issues (CBT, REBT, DBT), Grief counseling, Stress/Anxiety counseling, addictions counseling, and individual or family therapy providing positive psychology sessions exploring one strength rather than dwelling on one's weaknesses. Referral to Psych services if, and when needed.
